AFL Grand Final Day – 27/9/25 – Potential road closures in Geelong, with a chance of detours late afternoon/evening

In the interest of public safety, following Saturday afternoon’s AFL Grand Final there is a strong likelihood of road closures.   If closures are enforced, detours will be required.

The proposed road closures would be Moorabool St between Brougham St and Little Ryrie St, and Malop St between Gheringhap St and Bellarine St, and the Moorabool St Bus Interchange would not be accessible.

This is not known, and may be enforced at short notice on Saturday 27/9/25 afternoon/evening.  Please take note of local traffic conditions in the area at the time.

Should Vic Police enforce the road closures, the detours will be as follows:

Buses will travel to/from Geelong Rail via Fenwick St and Myers St.

Routes 30, 32, 56, 60, 61 would travel via Yarra St to continue Ryrie St as shown by the green line in the map below.

Routes 31, 41, 42, 53, 55 would travel  via Fenwick St and Myers St as shown by the purple line in the map below.
