GEELONG ROAD BARWON HEADS CLOSURE
Route 55 and School Bus diversion from Monday 27/5/24 for approximately 10 weeks.
Route 55 and school bus services detour.
Due to sewer upgrade works by Barwon Water, scheduled works will be carried out in stages in Barwon Heads between April and November 2024.
Rolling closures will be held along Geelong Rd at different locations. Geelong Road will be closed from the Barwon River to Seaview Avenue from 27/5 for approximately 2 weeks.
Whilst the closures are in place, for all stages of the work, the buses cannot travel along Geelong Rd from Sheepwash Rd, and will divert during this time.
Cars will detour via Knox Drive, and buses will use River Parade.
All Route 55 – Geelong to Ocean Grove via Barwon Heads, and all school buses will all detour via River Parade in the same clockwise manner from Sheepwash Rd, Right River Parade to Carr St, Right Taits Rd, Left Sheepwash Rd.
A temporary stop will be located at 112 Carr St, just north of Taits Rd as shown by the purple bus.
The following bus stops will not be serviced during the road closure and are marked with an X on the map below.
- Seaview Ave/Geelong Rd
- H Blyth Field/Geelong Rd
- Barwon Heads Tennis and Athletics Club/Geelong Rd
- Knox Cr/Carr St
- Taits Rd/Carr St
- Wattlebird Cres/Taits Rd – outbound stop 50664 * Please note that inbound stop 50663 will be in use.
